Diazo Products (Windsor) Ltd. commenced operations in 1976 supplying polyester based diazo films to the drafting and engineering markets. A dealer network was established stretching across Canada from St. John’s Newfoundland to Vancouver, British Columbia. With the aid of a Detroit based company who had subsidiaries throughout the United States, Diazo’s product lines were expanded to the American marketplace. In 1979 we were incorporated under the laws of Ontario.
In 1980 we moved to larger office space and set up a retail sales division to market our company in Southwestern Ontario. The product line expanded to include drafting furniture, blueprinting equipment and sundry items such as papers, pencils and leads.
In 1983 Diazo created a technical service division to handle the increasing need for local repairs on new and used drafting equipment and blueprint machines. A reprographic division was established to offer a wide range of services – from blueprinting, reduction and enlargement to high volume photocopying.
Chatham Blueprint was purchased in 1986 to market engineering and drafting supplies and solutions to the industries of Kent County. This enabled us to provide improved service and better product availability to customers in this area.
With the gradual demise of manual drafting techniques Diazo Products recognized the need to follow another avenue. After months of education and research we were able to offer CAD/CAM solutions on desktop computers. AutoCAD authorization was achieved in January 1987. We were now able to provide PC based engineering solutions and service for many diverse disciplines.
In July 1988, Diazo formed a new company, The CAD LAB. This AutoCAD training facility specialized in teaching AutoCAD and its third party products.
In September 1989 we diversified one step further with the purchase of Curry Blue Print Ltd., a local company that had offered reprographic services for over forty years. Working together with Diazo Products, we were now able to offer a greater variety of services using more modern technology.
To enable us to continue growing our business we moved into a new 13,000 square foot building in January, 1992. The building was custom designed for Diazo Products using AutoCAD and would permit us further expansion to better service our customers well into the next century. In March, 1992 we expanded our computer product line to include SUN Microsystems – a high-end vendor of UNIX workstations and servers.
Chatham Blueprint was sold in 1994, in order to increase our focus on local business.
More transformations were in store. In 1997 we were proud to expand our services by offering graphic design. Divisions were established for all departments in the fall of 1997; IS – Imaging Supplies, CS – Computer Supplies, ES – Engineering Services, TS – Technical Services and RS – Reprographic Services. Customer efficiency was now expedited as they were directed to the appropriate department. Digital printing and scanning of engineering documents completed the reprographic department.
The Dicur Group was incorporated in January 1998 as the parent company to Diazo Products (Windsor) Ltd., Chatham Blueprint and Curry Blue Print. Dicur Group Inc. is the cornerstone for group exposure and ISO certification. We were now ready to offer our expanded services to a larger territory. Dicur Group Inc. purchased Chatham Blueprint as a branch office once again, to represent both Diazo Products and Curry Blue Print. The graphics division was further developed to include a senior and associate designer as well as a salesperson. The addition of laminating and wide format full colour printing further enhanced our ability to fulfill future customer requirements.
We continue to provide an excellent product at a fair price. The Dicur Group Inc. will pursue further development of its product line and customer base.
